My name is Michael Shaw, the Headteacher at Gawsworth Primary School. We are very proud of our school. The staff and I work very hard to make sure that you enjoy lessons, behave well and really achieve high standards. Our school is set in lovely grounds in the picturesque village of Gawsworth. We visit our local environment frequently as it is very interesting and there is a lot of history in our village. We have one class per year group with 30 children and we are a very popular school. We take children from a very wide area and currently have a small number of places spread throughout the year groups. We have a new curriculum in our school with some very exciting and interesting topics. To help children in their work on these topics, we offer regular touch typing sessions - a skill that will stay with children throughout their adult life. We have lots of sport activities here for you to try and we regularly have sports coaches to teach new skills. There are also many school clubs so that you can try out new activities. We try very hard to be a healthy school with healthy snacks and lunches. We have Gosling's Before and After School Club which operates in the village (there is a walking bus to school).
Our classrooms are bright and airy. We have a 'state of the art' IT Suite. We work in partnership with our parents, children and the Governing Body. If you are interested in joining our school please ring our school office to arrange a visit - 01625 426547.

I grew up on a mixed farm close to near by Knutsford in Cheshire. Following my GCSEs and A Levels at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, I attended Nottingham Trent University for my BA (Hons) Humanities and then went on to study a PGCE (Primary) at Nene University College which is now known as Northampton University.
My first teaching post in 1998 saw me return to Cheshire at The Vernon Junior School in Poynton. After four years, I moved to Astbury St Mary's CE Primary School near Congleton. After two years there, I decided to teach abroad and spent some time at Providenciales Primary School in the Turks and Caicos Islands, British West Indies.
After two years in the Caribbean, I returned to Astbury St Mary's for a term and in January 2007, took a postion as Deputy Head Teacher at The Quinta Primary School in Congleton, during which time, I studied for and passed the National Professional Qualification for Headship. After nearly five years at The Quinta, I gained my first headship at Tithe Barn Primary School, an outstanding school in Stockport, where I had taught French as an undergraduate some twelve years earlier.
In September 2016, I was delighted to commence my second headship here at Gawsworth, joining an established and fantastic school team.
