At Gawsworth Primary School, we really value the importance of residential visits to the children and how they provide opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. We have developed measured yet exciting approach to our residential visits for different year groups, with each visit building on the experiences of the previous one and at the same time providing new opportunities and activities to discover.
At Gawsworth, parents/carers can expect their children to benefit from overnight residentials in Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6. In March during Year 2, our children spend one night at the Tattenhall Centre near Chester where they learn team-building skills, orienteering, low-level ropes, archery and tree climbing. In June in Year 4, our children visit the Conway Centre on Anglesey for two nights. Here, they participate in a wide range of outdoor, adventurous activities including water based skills on the Menai Straights. In Year 6, our children travel to the Chateau du Broutel in the Somme Bay, France. They stay away from home for four nights and take part in water sports, World War II Battlefield tours, visits to the local markets, museums and attractions.
The children at Gawsworth simply love their school visits and our teachers and staff work hard to ensure that they create life-long memories for them.
