The Local Governing Body at Gawsworth Primary School consists of twelve people, two of whom are Parent Governors. The period of office for all School Governors is four years.
The Local Governing Body is committed to being open, transparent and accountable, not only to staff and parents, but to all our stakeholders. We are a strong and committed Board of Governors. Our three core functions are:
To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
Holding the Head Teacher to account for the school’s educational performance; and
Ensuring financial resources are well spent.
All our Governors are very committed to the school's continuing improvement. A typical year might look like this:
Finalisation of Strategic School Improvement Plan
Review committee structures and governor roles
Prepare the annual governance statement
Set the budget
Monitor progress of pupils in the current academic year
Review Key Stage Results
Review the School Strategic Improvement Plan and set targets for the next academic year
Revision of curriculum policies is ongoing and the governors meet termly and maintain their close involvement in the school.
We currently hold a half-termly Chair/Headteacher Surgery which are open to all parents to make an appointment.
You can also contact any of the governors via the school office.
