Friends of Gawsworth

The Friends of Gawsworth” is our thriving Parent Teacher Association, which supports the school’s year-round fund raising activities. It offers everyone the opportunity to become involved with our children’s school in a productive manner and is also a great way of getting to know other parents, all of whom share a common goal - to ensure our children’s time at Gawsworth is as rewarding, productive and beneficial as possible.

Our function is to provide support to the school on behalf of the parent body by raising money to purchase equipment and resources, and to support projects within schoolwhich require extra funding. Recent purchases, made possible by “Friends of Gawsworth” include IT equipment, shelving, investment in our RWI reading books and in Religious Education books and resources.

Our Committee meets on a regular basis during each term to plan upcoming event. We encourage volunteer parents to help with school functions and be involved with the Committee itself. We welcome all volunteers from those who are willing to join the Committee, to those who can spare an hour to help at a Friends of Gawsworth event.

Our annual events organised by Friends of Gawsworth in non-Covid-19 times include:

Parent Coffee Mornings
Frost Fair
Rose Queen Fete
Film nights for pupils

Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, the members of The Friends of Gawsworth have been thinking creatively about how to raise funds for the school with restrictions in place. They have provided the children and the local community with some excellent activities, such as the 'Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin competition', Pumkin Picking and the fabulous Gawsworth Scarecrow trail which was thoroughly enjoyed by many children and families from Gawsworth and further afield.
