EYFS Good Level of Development
Early Years Assessment
At Gawsworth Primary School, formative assessment of the children in the Early Years Foundation Stage takes place on a daily basis. Early Years teaching staff carry out 'Baseline' assessments of the children when they start school and throughout the year, the children are assessed against the 'Early Learning Goals.'
Good Level of Development
Children achieving a good level of development are those achieving at least the expected level within all twelve areas of learning within the following headings:
• communication and language
• physical development
• personal, social and emotional development
Achieving at least the expected level across all early learning goals
Children achieving at least the expected level across all early learning goals (ELGs) are those achieving ‘expected’ or ‘exceeded’ in all 17 ELGs.
At the end of the Reception year, parents/carers receive a school report with a record of their child's achievements through the year.
