Safeguarding and Safety

'Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility.' Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all practitioners should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child. (Keeping Children Safe in Education, September 2020)

Gawsworth Primary School is passionate about and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  We expect all staff and visitors to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.  All concerns are passed to trained Designated Safeguarding Leads in our school, in compliance with the sharing of information guidance.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead for Child Protection is Mr Shaw.

He is supported by the school Deputy Safeguarding lead, Mrs Morris and our Safeguarding governor, Mrs Blackwell.

Our Designated Lead for Looked After Children is Mr Shaw.

If you have any serious concerns about your child or any other pupil at Gawsworth Primary School, please do not hesitate to contact one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads in school who will know who to contact for the best advice and help and are experienced in using the appropriate degree of confidentiality.
