Spring Term 2021 (Second Half of Term - Return to School for all Children)

I am really looking forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday (8th March.) You can arrive into our classroom (via the gate to the side of the astro turf) between 8.40 and 8.50a.m.  Your parent/carer will collect you from the astro turf at 3p.m.

We are about to embark on our second half of the spring term in Year 4 and as usual we have lots of work and fun activities to undertake that will build on some of the things that you have been learning about remotely over the past weeks. Hopefully we can rearrange a visit from 'Ranger Dan' who will be teaching us all about 'bush crafting skills.' when he comes to see us. We will be spending the day learning all sorts of exciting things about the 'great outdoors.' This will support our history and geography that we've been working on during lockdown.  We will be building on our geography work on the physical and human features of the United Kingdom, that you completed during lockdown, by considering our locality of Gawsworth more closely. Our art work will further focus on the work of Friedenreich Hunterwasser (a visual artist and architect) and his representations of buildings linking this to village buildings.

Our initial science work on sound and electricty, that you covered during lockdown, will allow us to link this knowledge and understanding to our next design and technology unit on electrical systems.

In English, we will be beginning the return to school with some more poetry but not raps this time like last half term but Kennings.. We will then be looking at the story of 'Beowulf' which is based on a famous Saxon poem and we will be writing some descriptions of settings for the story.

Finally, hopefully, Year 4 will have a drumming lesson each Friday afternoon!!!  We have such a lot of exciting things to learn about in the coming four weeks.
